Essex Eagles are looking forward to a trip to Grace Road for a Friends Provident Trophy Quarter-Final with Leicestershire Foxes next Wednesday, June 4.

The Eagles were unable to force the substantial victory required in their final group match at Lord’s yesterday that would have earned them a home draw in the last eight.

Essex First-Team Coach Paul Grayson thus watched the draw later in the evening with eager anticipation:

He told the Essex CCC website: “I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. Looking at the sides we could have faced I was keen to avoid travelling to Durham - straight after a four-day game at Worcestershire – and Kent, who are a particularly strong one-day side.

“Leicester are a decent side but we will go there believing we can win. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve lacked consistency in one-day cricket – we’ve either batted well and not bowled well or vice versa – so we will be looking to put that right in the next round.”

Play is due to get underway at midday and a reserve day is scheduled for Thursday (June 5).

In advance: £12 adults, £8 seniors and £5 children under 16.

On the day: £15 adults, £10 seniors and £5 for children (photographic ID will be required on collection of tickets for children).

(Railway Tavern bus stop) at 8.40am.

Non-members are welcome at a surcharge of £5.00 per head.
