Pre-match comments
Essex go into the game with a record of one defeat and one loss in the competition, having enjoyed a seven-wicket victory over Surrey on Wednesday before crashing to an identical loss at Lord’s the next day.
Speaking ahead of the game, First-Team Coach Paul Grayson told the Essex CCC website:
“It’s difficult to explain how we can go from a convincing victory one day to a heavy defeat the next. When we have been good this season we’ve been very good but when we’ve been bad we’ve been awful. We sat down in the dressing room after the game at Middlesex and identified areas to work on and improve so hopefully we’ll put it right on Sunday.”
