Street20

An urban, funky form of the game, designed to be played in crowded urban environments and using facilities such as five-a-side football pitches, multi-use-games-areas, basketball courts and sports halls.

Just take 2 bats, 2 sets of plastic stumps, a ball and you’re ready to go! The ball used for this game is a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape, which makes the ball act in the same way that a cricket ball does – only without the sting!

Essex Cricket, with sponsorship by Life Skills and Amlin, are working in partnership with various local authorities and many other partners to bring this game to the Streets in Essex.

There are over 14 street20 projects currently running in the county. Other projects include those ran by Essex Police, we have trained over 60 police officers and Police Community Support Officers in how to coach Street20 Cricket, and they are running various sessions around the county.
