Chance to Shine is a national appeal to revitalise competitive cricket in state schools, It is the single biggest sports development programme ever undertaken in this country.
Over the course of ten years Chance to Shine will reach a third of all schools in England and Wales and engage two million young people. It is a campaign for schools, delivered through clubs, and supported by partners.
Each NGB identifies clubs in its area that wish to take on the initiative. Once these have been approved, the clubs are signed up to a 5 year programme, delivering coaching to Primary and Secondary schools. ECB Level 2 qualified coaches are sent into those schools to deliver curriculum coaching, out of hours coaching and coaching camps during the holidays. This is also supplemented with cricket for teacher's modules, the provision of cricket equipment/resources and development of club/school facilities.
Last year the ECCB had 14 projects running with clubs across the county. This year 3 clubs have come to the end of their 5 year programme, and additional 2 clubs have signed up to the initiative.
