The England and Wales Cricket Board is firmly and enthusiastically committed to ensuring that cricket provides a safe, friendly and enjoyable experience for all children.
Safeguarding in Cricket is based upon the concept of providing an enjoyable cricket environment that is tailored to the needs and requirements of children.
The Safeguarding Policy is not just to protect children in cricket, it is to introduce good practice, raise awareness and provide piece of mind.
The ECB has produced Safe Hands - Policy for Safeguarding Children to assist clubs in achieving best practise. This policy is ditributed at the Safehands Workshop for CWOs (formerly TTL) and subsequent updates are sent to attendees home addresses. The ECB Safehands page where you can download the policy in bitesize sections.

Safehands workshop for CWOs
This is compulsory for all CWOs and replaces the TTL (Time to Listen) course. This workshop was written in conjunction with NSPCC sports unit and is tailored for Child Welfare in a cricket environment.
The workshop outlines the roles and responsibilities of Welfare Officers at National, County and Club level, and covers legislation and Government guidance, the procedure for reporting incidents / allegations and examples of situations a CWO may be asked to deal with.
At the Safehands workshop candidates will be given a copy of the ECB Safehands document which includes glossary of terms, definitions of abuse, reporting procedures, guidelines and advice for club policies, and rules and regulations of play.
The fee for each place is £25, cheques to be made payable to ECCB.
