Tymal Mills with the England Lions - Blog no. 2
In his second blog from the England Lions' tour of Bangladesh, Essex fast bowler Tymal Mills looks back on a disappointing defeat in the ODI series.
Unfortunately I'm sat writing this entry after we have just lost the one-day series against Bangladesh A. We're currently 3-1 down in the series going into the final match before the two-match T20 series.
We had a few days break between the second and third matches and had an opportunity to get out and do something on one of those. It turned out that the batsmen and spinners spent the day on the golf course letting off some steam and using the chance to show off their much talked about golfing prowess, whilst the quick bowlers proved to be the more cultured members of the group as we went to the renowned Chittagong shipyard, where boats from all over the world come to be dismantled and moved on. Both sets of lads and staff had a good day out and it was good to get away for a little while.
We unfortunately lost the third match of the series – our final fixture in Chittagong – by 75 runs leading into a do-or-die match in Sylhet. After two flights from Chittagong and then Dhaka we arrived at our home for the week in Sylhet. After losing the toss and batting first Joe Root made 81 and Jos Buttler made 41 on our way to 208. Unfortunately, we could not restrict the opposition as their opening batsman Imrul Kayes batted through for 110* as they won by six wickets.
Now we'll be playing for pride in the final game and looking to carry some momentum with us forward into the T20s in Dhaka.
