Peter Edwards Museum and Library

ECB Chief Executive David Collier officially opened the Peter Edwards Museum and Library at The Ford County Ground on Sunday September 10. A whole host of Essex luminaries were in attendance to witness a special ceremony during the second day of the County Championship match against Derbyshire.

The Museum and Library is dedicated to Peter Edwards, who was Secretary of Essex County Cricket Club from 1979 until his death in 2000. A bust of Peter Edwards was the main feature on entering the Museum and was unveiled by Mr Collier at the launch event. Essex-born sculptor Jeni Fairey was on hand to witness the appreciation bestowed upon her work by the Edwards family.

Essex Captain Ronnie Irani also popped in to brush up on his Essex history before returning to watch his side make light work of Derbyshire. The Peter Edwards Museum and Library contains a variety of historical artefacts relating to Essex County Cricket Club and is open, free of charge, to the public and school parties. Its aim is to bring awareness of the rich history of the County Cricket Club to a wider audience.
