New Overseas star set to strengthen Essex’s Finals Day team
Essex have today strengthened their Friends Provident t20 squad by acquiring the services of West Indies all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo (subject to visa approval). The 26 year old West Indian Cricketer will be available for selection for Finals day on Saturday 14th August.
The right handed batsman and right arm medium-fast bowler will add extra experience and class to the Eagles side. Dwayne also has played Twenty20 cricket for the West Indies and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Dwayne made his one day international debut against England in the 2003/4 tour of the Caribbean.
Paul Grayson, Essex First XI Head Coach spoke exclusively to www.essexcricket.org.uk, “Obviously Dwayne is a world class all rounder, we have lost the services of other big hitters such as Graham Napier and Ryan ten Doeschate. We see Dwayne as a like for like replacement for Scott Styris. He is a high quality cricketer, we feel we are short of another all-rounder with injuries to Napier (Graham Napier) and Tendo (Ryan ten Doeschate), he is a top class player and we hope he can make a major impact on Finals Day”.
Paul Grayson also updated supporters on the fitness of Ryan ten Doeschate who has been out of the Essex side since his injury obtained away at Somerset. “Ryan has been doing all he can with the support of the back-room staff, if Ryan continues to progress well over the next couple of weeks we can only hope that he has a chance to play his part in Finals Day. We will give him every chance of playing at the Rose Bowl for Finals Day”.
