Strike20 Community Cricket Competition - launched with Insure and Go

Mar 22 2010

We are pleased to announce that we will running the first ever Strike20 community cricket competition in Essex this year, sponsored by ‘Insure and Go’. The game is named ‘Strike20’ as the rules state you have 20 strikes/balls to get as many runs as possible. The game has been adapted from popular game Street20 and been made suitable for playing on grass, using inter-cricket equipment.

(Street20 Cricket is an urban form of cricket, using tennis balls wrapped in electrical tape, played in multi-use-games-areas, estates, or indoor halls. Strike20 implies the same rules as Street20 except using boundaries instead of cages, or walls, and using Inter-Cricket equipment instead of taped balls)

‘Insure and Go’ are delighted to be behind ‘Essex Cricket’ in piloting the community competition.

There are 2 competitions that are running this year, one is being held at the Colchester Cricket Festival and the other at the famous Ford County Ground. Young people aged 12-15years are being encouraged to enter 6-a-side teams, and not only will they get to play cricket during the intervals of the popular Essex Cricket matches, but also gain free entry to those matches. If you would like to enter a team into the competition please contact Tracey Davies for more information: tracey.davies.essex@ecb.co.uk Tel: 01245 254004. This competition is for all of the community to get involved in, it does not matter if you have never played cricket before, or if you have a lot of cricket experience, we are encouraging all to get involved.
