The ECB Cricket Factory is coming to Essex

Mar 12 2010

The ECB Cricket Factory is coming to Essex and presents a new approach to engaging young people in Cricket (age 4 - adults)

The Tour Rig provides a platform to allow young participants to perform a variety of cricket activities and challenge all the key basic skills: batting, bowling, throwing, catching and cricket related movement.

Supported by local Essex Cricket coaches, the aim is to give all participants a positive and fun experience that will encourage them to take up the sport, and provide them all with information relating to where they can go on to play and watch cricket in the future.

The ECB Cricket Factory Tour is a public demonstration of the new ECB Long Term Athlete Development process giving young people the opportunity to experience the game at the right level for their particular level of skill, providing a positive learning process from the playground to the Test arena.

Activity Stations

The ECB Cricket Factory comprises four main components:

Tactical Batting Zone – Batting / Movement / Balance skill testDecisions! Decisions! A quick single run, through the gap for four or a massive hit for six! Watch out though you might get caught! Step up to the wicket and face all the challenges of the opening batsman.

Fast Fielding Zone - Catching / Movement / Balance skill testYou’re standing in the slips. It’s that crucial moment, the chance is yours, watch the ball off the rebound net as you move to take that important catch to dismiss their best player.

Wicket Zone - Fielding / Throwing skill testYou’re in the outfield - you’ve raced to collect the ball - the batsmen are running between the wickets. Which option - the gloves of the wicket keeper or middle stump! You decide - make your throw!

Bowling Target Zone - Bowling / Accuracy / Movement skill test

Keep the batsman guessing. Bowling down into the zone through the target maze, get the stumps in your sights and test your accuracy.

The ECB Cricket Factory is coming to Essex for the first time on Thursday 8th April to the first ever disability club competition in Essex. It is at Gidea Park & Romford Cricket Club from 10am -4pm. It will involve all ‘Hit the Top’ and Essex Disability Cricket clubs. It will be an 8 a side competition with a softball. This is a great day for disability cricket in Essex as this is the first event for clubs of its kind. The winning team will be invited to play against the winning clubs from Middlesex, Surrey and Kent in our ‘Hit the Top’ Clubs Finals Day.

We are encouraging young people and families along to the event to watch the tournament and have a go in the Cricket Factory, enjoy a BBQ and a friendly atmosphere.
