David Masters agreed a three-year deal with Essex in August 2007, taking him up until the end of the 2010 season.

Masters was out of contract with Leicestershire at the end of that season but remained with the Grace Road club for the closing weeks of the campaign, which included an appearance against Essex at Castle Park.

The experienced seamer began his first-class career with Kent in 2000 before joining Leicestershire for the 2003 season.

His best first-class bowling thus far came during his debut campaign for Kent with 6-27 against Durham at Tunbridge Wells. Meanwhile, his best first-class batting is his 119 for Leicestershire against Sussex at Hove in 2003.
