Graham Gooch Cricket Academy
Essex Cricket prides itself on the continued rise of talented cricketers being developed in its Graham Gooch Essex Cricket Academy since its inception in 2003.
Current Essex and England players Alastair Cook and Ravinder Bopara are testament to the pathway the academy has offered them and to all the others who have signed professional contracts to date and our first England Women's player Elizabeth Macgregor.
2011 was a fantastic year for the Academy squad as three players – Reece Topley, Tymal Mills and Ben Foakes gained professional contracts with Essex County Cricket Club as well as joining the England U19s Development Programme. A further two boys Rehan Hassan & Harry Levy are on the England Development Programme for U16/17 in 2011/12. Kishen Velani has been elevated to the U18/19 England Development Programme for 2011/12 and Cordelia Griffith is in the England Women’s Academy 2011/12.
With the continued financial support of the Graham Gooch Scholarship and the county club the Academy is confident of seeing many more young players mature for future generations.
