Adam Wheater
Squad number: 31
Date of birth: 13 February 1990
Debut: 2008
Cap: -
Right-hand bat/wicket-keeper
A former England Under-19 player, he made his first team debut back in August 2007 when playing against Derbyshire in the Twenty20 Floodlit Cup claiming three catches, a stumping and effecting a run out before striking a whirlwind 39 off 17 balls to steer his side to victory.
Adam made his first-class debut in April 2008 and has proved to be a capable deputy to James Foster on spasmodic occasions when Foster has been unavailable. However, last summer Adam forced his way into the first team as an aggressive mid-order batsman in the longer form of the game and scored a career-best 164 against Northamptonshire setting a new County record with Foster for the 6th wicket when the pair added 253 runs.
Adam has also enjoyed extended opportunities as an opening batsman in limited-overs cricket and was selected to join the England Performance programme during the winter.
