The Jamaica-born fast bowler made his first-class debut for Essex in 2005 when still part of the Academy set-up and forced his way into the first-team reckoning during the 2006 season.

His steady progress was monitored by the ECB and he was called into the England Performance Squad and selected for the England Lions tour to West Indies in 2009/10. He illustrated his incisive ability when returning match figures of 10 for 123 that included career-best 6-68 against Nottinghamshire at Chelmsford in 2010 and after a series of consistent performances that season, he was handed a place in the England Performance Programme squad that winter.

Now a regular member of the County Championship squad taking 23 wickets last summer, Maurice will be looking to further advance his career in 2012.
