The Graham Gooch Essex Cricket Academy gained accreditation from the ECB in 2001/2 and since that time it has developed into one of the best Academies in the Country for producing home grown talent for both Essex and England.

We continue to use the England captain Alastair Cook, a past academy scholar, as a role model of how Academy members can develop as a person and as a cricketer. The Academy supports the early part of a pathway to a potential professional career, including educational assistance which we see as vital at this age group.

Our focus for the future is to deliver a high quality calendar of training and events which are specifically designed for both boys and girls who are either selected from our Emerging Players Programme or a network of scouting identification throughout the Country. Within our environment we want each player to realise their talent and to grow as a person whilst adhering to the values and traditions of the Club; Respect, Trust, Teamwork and Enjoyment.

Our main objective is to produce professional cricketers, but we are very mindful that many will not attain the required level, but will still have gained many skills through our holistic programme that will serve them well in future life and assist in the future choices that they make.
