The Club is gearing up for the visit of Australia and the playing staff share the excitement with all our Members and supporters.
Essex Head Coach Paul Grayson said, “It is really exciting news for everyone at the Club as we get to come up against one of, if not the best, One Day sides in the World.
“We have shown we can perform well in the 40-over format of the game and we will certainly be putting out a very strong side against them.
“It will be great for the Members and supporters to have Australia at Chelmsford and well done for the people behind the scenes in making this possible.
“Obviously Alastair Cook performed exceptionally well against Australia in 2005 by getting his double century and this was a pivotal stage in his career. Both Alastair and Ravi showed in this match that they could score runs against the best and it proved a big turning point for both of their careers. This shows to our current group of young players that they can go out and perform and express their talent.”
Danny Macklin, Essex Cricket Commercial Manager, "We are obviously delighted to be hosting Australia at The Ford County Ground in the height of the sporting summer of 2012. We are obviously expecting the interest to be huge from Members, supporters and from businesses across the region. This will be an ideal opportunity for the Essex First XI to test themselves against some of the greatest players in the game."
