Cook & Porter Selected For First India Test

Alastair Cook and Jamie Porter have been picked for the England squad for the first Specsavers Test match against India at Edgbaston starting on Wednesday 1 August.

Porter earns his first call-up to the Test squad, having impressed for Essex over the past few seasons and the most recently the England Lions.

The 25-year-old was named the Specsavers County Championship Player of the Year in 2017 and was instrumental in Essex lifting the County Championship title last season.

Commenting on Porter, National Selector Ed Smith said: “Jamie has been the outstanding seam bowler in the county championship over the past three seasons. He also impressed for the Lions v India A last week. With his resilience and appetite for wicket-taking, Jamie fully deserves his elevation to the England Test squad.”
