Essex Cricket can today confirm the Club’s pre-season plans ahead of the 2021 season.
From Tuesday 23 March – Friday 26 March, Tom Westley’s side will take on Lancashire in back-to-back two-day friendlies at The Cloudfm County Ground.
The side will then play Kent at Chelmsford in another two-day red-ball clash which starts on Friday 29 March, before wrapping things up in early April with an inter-squad match.
Essex Head Coach, Anthony McGrath, said: “Pre-season is always an exciting time and although things are a little different this year, the lads are all itching to get started.
“We’ve managed to pencil in some fixtures against strong opposition, which will remind the lads how tough the season is going to be and how hard they’re going to have to work if they want to have another successful year.
“We played without a crowd last year and sadly we’re going to start this campaign in the fashion. We have one of the best and most dedicated fanbases in the country here at Essex and me and the team are really looking forward to welcoming the Members and supporters back to Chelmsford when the UK Government allows us.”
Please note that all pre-season friendlies will take place behind-closed-doors. Further information about live streaming these games will be released in due course.
