Essex County Cricket Club has taken the decision to operate The Cloudfm County Ground as a ‘cashless venue’ with immediate effect.
This approach will apply to all food and drink sales and transactions occurring within the ground on both matchdays and non-matchdays.
With several Club policies and processes being reviewed as a direct result of COVID-19, this decision has been made primarily with health and safety in mind.
Cashless payments will facilitate fewer opportunities for the transmission of infection and reduce queuing times, making it easier to move around The Cloudfm County Ground in a safer and more spacious environment, especially at known pinch points around the stadium.
As a result of the changes, Essex County Cricket Club will continue to work with all third-party catering partners and our own Club staff to ensure that the best possible customer service is maintained, ensuring a great visitor experience at Chelmsford.
Cash payments will continue to be accepted outside of the perimeter of the ground. This will include when purchasing merchandise from The Cricket Store at Essex Cricket, when purchasing matchday scorecards on entry into the ground, or when parking a car at either The Cloudfm County Ground or Meteor Way.
Executive Chairman, John Faragher said: “We have seen many stadia across the country take a similar stance on payments this season and it’s one of the many decisions that has been made to ensure the health and safety of every person we welcome through the gates as we continue to negotiate the pandemic.
“We have already seen the benefits to the services we’re able to offer since testing the concept of operating as a cashless venue earlier in the season and we thank our Members and supporters for their cooperation whilst this change in approach was rolled out.”
Since moving into Stage Four of the Government guidelines which has seen a number of regulations relaxed, The Club is delighted to be able to improve the food & drink offering available to spectators. This includes the re-introduction of Chelmsford-based caterers, Anne’s Pantry, who have proved popular amongst Members and supporters with their diverse, home-made, street-food offering.
Anne’s Pantry food stands will be open during every remaining home matchday in 2021 as will Club Bars and Members’ Pavilion. Please note that the Club will not be offering a Members’ Restaurant facility for the remainder of 2021.
Whilst you will no longer be able to purchase your food and drink with cash at The Cloudfm County Ground, all major credit and debit cards will continue to be accepted at the point of sale. We are also able to accept payments via your smart mobile, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
We look forward to welcoming you back to The Cloudfm County Ground in the not too distant future.
