Shane Snater called up by the Netherlands for England ODIs

The Dutchman has been selected in the Netherlands 18-man squad to play England, with the first game being played on Friday 17 June.

The tour, consisting of three ODI matches played on 17, 19 and 22 June, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and the ECB website and app.

Snater’s last outing as a Netherlands player came in a T20 World Cup Qualifier against Bermuda in 2019, but he last featured for the ODI side in 2018.

Since then, Snater’s performances with the ball have turned heads at Essex and he has become a First Team regular in both red ball and 50-over cricket.

Despite injury limiting him to six appearances in last year’s Royal London Cup, he was Essex Eagles third-highest wicket-taker with his 13 wickets coming at 21.69 apiece.

Snater’s call-up to the national squad will not affect his availability for Essex’s LV= Insurance County Championship fixture against Hampshire, starting on June 26 at Chelmsford.

Essex Head Coach, Anthony McGrath, said: “Shane greatly deserves national recognition for his performances in Essex colours over the past couple of seasons.

“He works so hard on his game, so it’s fantastic to see him being rewarded for his improvement.”
