All-rounder Ashar Zaidi signed a one year contract with the Club in January 2016 after leaving Sussex at the end of the 2015 season. Zaidi, a left arm spinner & left hand batter, emerged as a firm fans favourite with his big hitting in white ball cricket leading Essex to a number of victories in the 2016 campaign.
Zaidi was rewarded with a two-year contract at the end of that season, and is now a regular fixture in the Eagles white-ball side. The all-rounder can also contribute with the ball and has several variations that have been perfected in various competitions around the world. ‘Boom Boom’ will look to lead Anthony McGrath’s men to a Vitality Blast Finals Day this summer.
